Picnic Phonograph is from the Icons Collaboration Series and is a William Thomas X ArtÓ collaboration. This is an open giclée print of the original textured acrylic on canvas. It measures 50cm x 50cm and as part of the Icons collaboration series is one of 6 artworks in a range of originals. The series was born after a collective meeting of minds and ideas that came about during a June 2023 visit with William Thomas in a gallery in Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswold's.
This piece is a vibrant wall filler and pays homage to the days when portable music was a phonograph / record player in a suitcase, that you took to a picnic, a party or an event. This is a real rarity to see in real life today, although vinyl is making a come back, impractical portable record players are unlikely to make it back. If you look closely you will see the 7inch singles are hits songs from the 80s. The Final Countdown, Living on a Prayer, Take a Chance on Me and if you look closely an iconic theme tune from an iconic movie.

William employs a bold style of painting, using layering to create texture to create deliberate imperfections and with great results. His attention to detail is also incredible. This print has been Cruise Scanned to capture the 3D texture in 2D and all its amazing detailed imperfections.
